Amanda Phaphama Fononda

TB HIV Care, East London, Eastern Cape

I work for TB HIV Care, a civil society organization passionate about Public Health and aims to be a leader in empowering communities to be healthy and free of TB and HIV.

Among other things, I provide technical support and coordination to the Department of Correctional Services and informal settlements in implementing the comprehensive prevention package of HIV/TB/STI to inmates and the general population.  This helps to ensure the implementation of programme activities including quality improvement, clinical training, health care management development, digital chest X-ray, monitoring, evaluation, and pharmacy services to reduce the prevalence of HIV and TB in vulnerable populations.

I am a co-founder of a non-profit organization that facilitates Career, Communication and Life Skills for learner in Grade 10 - 12 and also works with higher institutions by providing work readiness programmes for final year students.

I proudly mentor 17 girls of ages between 16 & 18 in their newly established initiative at the East London Girls of Hope since 2017. Their work includes sourcing bursaries, internships, scholarships, sport equipment, stationery and books.
