Lebohang Ramafoko

Chief Executive Officer of TEKANO

Ms Lebogang Ramafoko has been appointed as the Chief Executive of Tekano Atlantic Fellowship Health Equity South Africa and she commences in this role on 17 December 2019.

Lebogang is a respected leader, eloquent in English, seSotho and isiZulu. She has academic qualifications that include a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School, Harvard University (USA), a postgraduate diploma in Ethics and a BA degree in Education from the University of Witwatersrand (WITS), South Africa.

Lebogang is a national asset and has served on many Task Teams locally, regionally and internationally. She is an internationally recognised speaker, well known for her passion about gender justice specifically and social justice in general and is a sought-after contributor on many platforms in South Africa.

Lebogang has been at the Soul City Institute for the last 25 years and the CEO for the past 8 years, providing strategic leadership to the organisation during the implementation of large grants from the National Department of Health, PEPFAR, DFID, EU and the Global Fund. After 20 years of being globally recognized as a Health and Development communication organization, Lebogang led the provisioning of Soul City into a Social Justice Organization for young women and girls. Since the repositioning, the organization has implemented various programs focusing on social structural issues facing young women and put them at risk of HIV.

We have been most fortunate to be able to inherit a remarkable leader. She comes to Tekano with much needed skills and experiences to address the complex demands of managing relationships with the various players, working with community-based structures, negotiating with different groups of people to best play their role in project implementation and our donor/s.

Tekano wishes her well in her journey with us. Join us by saying “Re a o amohela moetapele oa rona!” (Welcome to our leader in seSotho).
